If you have a 67 hood I believe the holes are already there in the underhood supports. I installed mine flush with the back of the hood.

I bought a template on the internet, still have it. PM me if you are interested and I will look up where I bought it. I found that the most important dimension, is the front bolt. It uses a spacer, and you can see it from the front of the car. Line it up so that it is STRAIGHT up and down. Too far forward or backward, and the spacer will appear to "lean" in or out! This bolt will wind up being in a cross brace on the bottom of the hood, that brace can make the bolt come up to meet the scoop at an angle if it is not lined up correctly. Find where that front bolt needs to go and let it dictate the placement of the scoop front to back.
