Are these welded in?

Had my radiator re-cored ('69 C Body) modded to fit '71 B Body and asked the shop to remove the studs while it was apart. They just cut the threaded portion off before re-assembling

What's the best way to get these off. Don't have room for a grinder in there.

The studs have 3 small spot welds under the head. You will have some work to to remove them and repair the welds. I have done some but it was before they were soldered back on the tank.

I'm assuming there ain't room to get a regular (or angle) drill in there. But if so a good hardened bit (cobalt or carbide I forget which) will go thru em like butter

As said welded , I would drill and tap it if you want to run a bolt into it , I broke a stud off and that's how I repaired it , installing a piece of threaded rod.

Thanks for the responses
cbusters & RapidRobert after reading your posts this morning got me to thinking about drilling and tapping for a stud. Then JohnRR comes in and posts just that

Going to try drilling & tapping and if that don't go well or I get lazy I'll tack them with the mig

Not much else I can do except take it back & get disassembled

Here's my shroud repair
