John Deere makes a chassis paint called Blitz Black. It's a valspar enamel. I painted a whole car with it before- it was supposed to be cheap and dirty (hardly any prep, moisture in the lines, etc) but it lasted really well over seven or so years. It has a satin look and stayed dark black despite being parked in the sun a lot.

I'm painting my '72 demon 2003 ford medium platinum metallic (I know, uncharted waters!) with factory tape stripes and the sizzler hood stripes. It has a factory dual snorkel and a wing I added. I'm planning to do the scoop wing and hood center in blitz black- does it get painted then taped on the hood? Or just tape off the middle after the stripes go on?

Any advice or experience with orgainsol alternatives or order of operations painting the sizzler hood?

Thanks moparts!

I've used Organosol black in the past on my black area of my Duster. Worst thing I could have ever done. That stuff looks OK, but it's the worst to work with. The worst to keep clean. The worst to maintain. I would have to use a very large paint brush to clean the dust off, or blow it with compressed air. Using a rag would leave bits of it behind on the rough surface Organosol black has. I went with Hot Rod black for the black out portions of my repaint. Love it!
Good luck.

I'd love to see some pictures of this. My Duster has the 1971 style performance paint style. (V24 I think?) My painter used base coat black and a matte clear and it has too much sheen. I'm thinking about having it redone.

No need to go to such pains,

Organisol black is still available albeit not in it"s "original" texture formula.

Actually the current formula for ddl 9355 is fine for non show poodle oem resto cars.

If organisol is applied incorrectly you will complain like others do about the rough finish.

Since we don't have real tech archives do a search and the info about proper application should appear.

I've searched for sizzler on here extensively (gotta use booleans to filter out all the posts about thermoquads set up by member 'demonsizzler').

This post is pretty typical a ton of bumps followed by 'ask on FABO' !

Any better info about how to paint the sizzler panel?
