So I have to paint the engine for my '67 Satellite. Its a 440 and I'm going for a day 2 look with the car. What do you guys think? The car is YY1 light tan poly, Cragar S/S all around, 28 inch tall bias ply on the front, J60s or L60s out back, chrome valve covers and air cleaner, cal custom wingnut, WHITE headers, Holley 850 DP, Edelbrock TM7 intake, Sun Super Tach on the dash, Sun blue line oil and temp gauges on the column when I find a set that work, 4 speed, vintage stickers in the trunk, possibly an SS scoop. Should I go orange or turquoise? I personally think that the orange looks tougher but feel like it should be turquoise. The turquoise paint is hard to find in an ACCURATE color. And if it were day 2 this would have been a swapped deal with the 440 anyway, so what says the experts and guys who were around during day 2?
Now I need to pin those needles, got to feel that heat Hear my motor screamin while I'm tearin up the street

I simply voted Turquoise even though my engines have all been Orange...If you are undecided, then you have options. There aren't many people who paint their engines anything besides orange or black. Orange just happens to be my favorite color..thats all

Is it day 2 or YEAR 2 ? orange engines , except the hemi , didn't show till the 69 model year .
and why I can't make up my mind.
It really comes down to what you want to do , it's your car , you are the one that has to look at it whenever you open the hood.
but by all means let the board choose for you ...

Your choice is what works for you, Matt. As John knows, we pulled the Corp Blue 318 from my B5 '72 Satellite and replaced it with a Street Hemi Orange 440, topped off with a black ('70-71) dual snorkel air cleaner.
Looks good to me.
I was thinking about that while penning my reply and was going to use it . Your scenario is completely plausible because a day 2 440 swap would most likely be done with an engine from the orange engine era ...
