Good morning,

i have a special question to all of you.
I'm a german (in Germany), and i bought a Dodge Challenger 440 SixPack from the year of 1970. It's hard enough to get this car on our streets, because the german law for cars are ... [Edited by Moparts - Family Friendly Site - Keep it clean]
However, i need a official price from 1970 for this car. Background for this, there is a little gap in our tax law, which can save me a lot of Money, which i need to keep the car running. We have to pay taxes, based on the original price on the year, the car was build and selled. The actual price for this car (more informations and pics later) is 65.000$. The tax means 1% of it. So 650$ each month. When i can Show them a official document (Google says, it was about 5000$ in this time) i only have to pay 50$ a month, which is a lot for me.

So i tried to call the dodge customer Service in Germany, because i can't find usefull informations in Google, and they tell me: "We are sorry, we don't have this informations."

Ok, next try was Dodge Call Center in USA. They told me:"We are sorry, we don't Support the People in Germany, but hey, nice car..."

Then i called a friend in the States, and he asked another friend, and he write me:

I highly suggest Jan joins the forum at Moparts.com. This is the most active Mopar board on the Internet: I am on there daily. He could post a thread requesting this info and obtain some direction on the info he is seeking.

So here i am, and i hope you can help me, to find a official price of this car

This is my car:
http://www.traeume-wagen.de/topslider/dodge-challenger-rt/

Sorry for this, it's a german site. And more sorry for my bad english

Have a good day and greetings from Germany,
Jan

Do you have a fender tag and/or broadcast sheet? I can figure your car's original window sticker price (M.S.R.P.) if that would help.

1970 Dodge Challenger R/T - JS23 base price = $3266.00 US
E87 - OPTIONAL 440 Six-Pack 3x2bbl engine = $ 249.55
D32 - OPTIONAL 727 automatic transmission = $ 227.05

The car is right now at my car Dealers place for Service.
This means no Chance for the Fender Tag right now.

But i have the Motor/Vehicle Identification Number.

Cheers,
Jan

Hi,

your Challenger RT isn't a genuine V-code 440+6 car. It is a factory u-code (440-4bbl) car which was EB5 from the factory. Dave sold it for less than 30k GBP to the german owner

Good morning guys,

thank you all for this informations. I really thought, that i will never get this informations. Now i'm really happy.

Dave sold this car to a german guy and he make also some changes.
And he get the sign for a real "historical car". It receives the grade 1- which means an A- in your School System, i think.
The official Price at the Moment for this car, from official side (there is a certificate for this) is 55.000€.
I bought it now for 49.500€.
Maybe it was to expensive, but hey, this was my dream car since i was a small kid, and i never saw such an old car, which Looks like it's coming out feshly from the factory
I'm happy with it.

Yes Carsten is correct and I sold this Challenger for £30K (around $45,000 USD) two years ago now. I had owned it since 1989 when I had it imported to the UK from Texas.

I don't have a photo of the tag handy (and it is very late here as I type) but here is a drawing I made of it for demonstration purposes.

Dave.

Found an old photo of the tag.

As you can see it was originally a B5 Blue 440 R/T (4bbl) with white vinyl top, white interior, and white Bee stripe.

When I bought it in 1989 it had front end damage. The passenger side front fender, front grille, and possibly the passenger door (the door mirror for sure) are not original to the car.

The engine and trans are the original numbers matching items. Although the only original parts to the engine are the block and con rods.

It came with AC, PS, power drum brakes. All of which are no longer on the car.

Hello Jan.

You are lucky to get this car because Alex only very reluctantly put it up for sale. Now he knows how I felt and he only owned the car two years compared to 22 years for me. A lot of my blood and soul went into that car.

I hope one day I can afford another Mopar. But for now I have to do without.

The car will be starting to get a bit "tired" here and there. It is your car now and you should perhaps put some of your own personal touches into it. But if you ever need advice on how best to go about keeping it running sharp feel free to get in touch with me.
