For a street car. My take is NOS basically is race only, sure you can hit it now and then, could get expensive though. Blowers seem to be good on the street, lots of torque and the WOW factor. Turbos used to lag, though have overcome that now, but seem to have the potential of making more power than the blower from what I've seen and with a flat hood, other than a whine, no one is the wiser. What is your take, which do you think has an advantage on the street?

If it's just a street car then i think the blower gets the instant tork but if it's a street race car the turbo gets the with the turbo lag can have an advantage on the street cause of the building of boost and helping on the tires to hooking up..................

boost is the best by far. Turbo(s) use less power to make power vs. A blower/supercharger. However unless you can weld/fab up the exhaust turbos get expensive quick. Boost is always there, no buttons to push, no bottles to open or fill and with boost you can build a very mild street motor that halls ash at the track. Plus with boost you can run a pretty tame stall and rear gears. That is not the case w/ NO2. My next build will be boosted for sure.

I worked on a project at Chrysler that used a belt
driven blower on a 4 banger that when you pressed far
enough on the gas pedal it engaged a a/c style clutch
on the blower to engage it... that way you werent
spinning the blower all the time but yet had the power
of the blower... was a fun project

Basically my philosophy in the past, engines sounded as good as they ran, though not very steetable if they put out several hundred HP.

Basically it did work like that but we had a micro
switch in the gas pedal to engage it... as you rolled
into the pedal it would engage the blower and disengage
the A/C so you had all the power you could have...
it never made it into production... but there were
a few projects that I worked on that never made it
into production... some did

I went the nitrous route on my dart, that was fun at the track. Turbo is going on the Aspen eventually, I like the idea of a 323 or higher rear gear and enough torque to still run well on the street and track.

In some states it has become illegal to have NOS on the street and/or must be marked on the car as carrying it on board.

Mr P, that is the way the blower works on my Mercedes from the factory!

Turbo get's my vote. You can adjust the low speed hit with a turbo pretty easily just by changing the exh side of the turbo and moving the rpm band up/down. And in a street car, you don't want to spin! On my turbo truck boost comes in at around 1800 rpms and you can't get on it unless you are going around 60 mph or you will just go up in smoke. At 60 mph in 2nd gear, I can still leave 60 ft of black lines and this is with 315/60 drag radials! My next move is to go with a bigger exh AR to move the power band up even further in hopes of not leaving the line with so much power as to not spin and to help with 60fts.

It is also much easier to turn a knob to get more boost than change pulleys. Finally, don't have to mess with belts/slip, etc.

I used to think that way... boost is like having your cake, eating it and not getting fat.

I love it when guys have more power than they can handle. That's why this site is full of either broke engines or 1400 hp cars that run 10's. Us guys that do it the hard way usually also know how to set up our suspension to handle the horsepower we have on hand. Nothing better in life than beating their cars with our UNDERPOWERED NA engines.

I agree. Especially after my buddies SBF T.T. pedaling it several times went a 10:80 at 180 on Drag Radials. Since then he has it dialed in & is in the High 6's low 7's consistantly over 200 on Drag Radials (and that is in the quarter).
