Im not finding anyone local who can restore the headrests on my 68 Charger. They have cracks and the vinyl is hard so I think I will be in the market for replacements. I keep seeing the same headrests on Ebay from PG classics and they are about $100 cheaper than original ones from a vendor such as Not just headrests. In the pictures, they look almost plastic and not quite the right shape. Has anyone bought a set of these? if so any pics of them installed on a seat? Im very tempted to pick up a set as Im getting impatient. I already have a gauge/dash bezel set from PG and am happy with the quality/look of them so that is why I am thinking of picking up a set. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Unless you need black pass on PG Classics head rests. All there colored ones are just dyed black ones and the color's are way off. They look pretty good but i wouldn't say there perfect 100 point parts.PG Classics stuff is fair at best and better then nothing. If you want show quality i'd look some where else. If show quality isn't important then save some money and order black and dye them yourself. Any other they charge more for and your going to have to dye it any way the color is so bad. I did mine and i'm happy with them.

I still need green ones for my 69 Charger. I'm really nervous about spending $300 on black ones and trying to paint them green.

Do they come with the hardware to mount them to non-headrest equipted seatbacks?

No on the hardware. You have to buy it separately.

It is a little tricky to put headrests on seats that are already upholstered without. You need to find the mounting locations inside, not easy.

If you pay the extra PG Classics wants for the colored ones thats up to you. Just know that all they are selling you is a set of black ones dyed green. And the color green is no where close to factory green interrior color so your going to have to redye them anyway. They are only molded in black. I learned the hard way and ordered the blue for my car. It was way to dark compared to the orignal color. I had to clean off all there dye and redo in correct color. Save some money and time just get the black and dye them your color. PG Classic parts are all made in China and they didn't care about color code they just picked a dark blue a bright red ect ect. There no where close to factory not even in the same time zone. I took the car to my local Dupont dealer they took a picture match of the new seat covers and made me up the dye. They match beautiful. Now.

I think Legendary is missing out here. Maybe they could get them at a whole sale price and they could dye them to MATCH their reproduction interior items and sell them for a little more. Maybe even sell them as a package deal... Seat covers and headrests, together. It's just a thought. I've been holding out... Driving my Charger for 2 years now without headrests in hopes that eventually I could just buy CORRECT green ones. I mean, they went to the trouble to do the upper door pads in green, so why no headrests?

The other big mistake with these China headrests are that they made them without the lower gaskets.
It's nice to have a reproduction part but it's more important to have a correct reproduction part.

Original ones also sit above the seat, never made to go all the way down on the bucket seats.

Oh forgot to mention that the new Reproductions use straight shafts where the originals had a slight curve at the top.
They are better than cracked and ripped stuff but still not made as a perfect match to the originals.:(

Well at least I haven't wasted any money on these yet. Sounds like I'm better off trying to stay with original headrests. One of mine is workable. It will need the new chrome band and a fresh coat of F8, but the other one is cracked REAL bad on the one end. I guess I'll have to keep a look out for a decent used one.

That’s the route I went. My originals were cracked and faded so I was considering the PG ones too. I wound up getting a nice pair of originals on ebay for $100 and painted ‘em. I used the interior paint from Herb’s Parts. The paint covered well and I am very happy with the results. Although I don’t have a picture of them with the chrome trim and gaskets installed, I do have a few other before and after pictures.

I already have a can of that paint in F8 for my kick panels. Good to hear it works well.

I'm not saying they are junk, just wanted you to know beforehand their shortcomings. When you talk to Mike at BE+A he'll tell you they are perfect and all but only a handful of the stuff they and Pg sells is. Majority of the products are much needed but are a compromise.
