Is there a problem with the fiberglass hoods hitting the wiper arms? My resto shop says without the springs the hood is hitting, but with the springs it goes up and down fine. Do they just need to keep making adjustments or are they missing something? I understand the springs are what makes the hood warp so wanted to keep them off. Thanks

I've had no clearance issue, with or without springs. I'll try and take a photo and post but the T/A is away.

This hood did not interfere with the wipers when removed. Regardless, I wouldnt think it would warp lengthwise. Could it be something in the wipers themselves?

This may help you to understand why the hoods warp, I wrote this as a reply to another fellow a few months back. In the end I'm doubtful the hood would warp to the point it interferes with the wipers. Is it an original hood or aftermarket?
The reason the hoods warp is a combination of load, time, and resin cure. When composite parts are cured there is much to consider. Unsure if we had any of it down in the US (or world) in 1970. The basic idea that when a bend angle or contour is layed up and cured, the resin drying (shrinking) closes the angle or contour, even though the tool is trying to keep it in it's perfect form. While each company has their own proprietary formulas for figuring the amount it will close, often trial and error prevail. So if Ma MOPAR would have thought this out better, they would have created a tool that was less contoured than the final desired shape. It was appearent this was not the case when I broke the stiffening structure off the back of mine. I had to clamp it to the tool to get it to come down. Then bonding the structure to the back again, the bonding system helps to account for the variations, leaving me a pretty good hood.
Picture the stresses already in the hood, now add load in the direction the hood wants to bow, over years, with additional curing of the resin system (yes they continue to cure, and become brittle) . . . . bang, big open gap.

Fiberglass hoods or steel factory hoods, I've owned a lot of E bodies over the decades, and they would all have issues at one time or another with the wipers clipping the edge of the hood when running, or when going into park mode, adjust the hood to allow the wipers to operate, without throwing the visual alignment of the hood "out of whack"...plus being a glass hood see if there excess fiberglass you might be able to "lose" on the underside to increase the clearance,....as far as hood warpage, might be luck of the draw for some? and not others, I've had my hood on my T/A for about 35 years now with springs on it from day 1 (Fiberglass Trends repro purchased in 1979) and it's still pretty much like the day I purchased it, still holding good alignment/shape on both sides, and I'm running the SE style belt trim that the car had originaly on the back of the hood, and I have no issues with wiper interference,....you might also want to see if there's anything you can do to the wiper arm(s)?, maybe the style of blade filler your using is causing them to sit higher, I always found that as an issue, I prefer the thin factory replacement to keep the wiper profile low as possible...

I will check on the hinge rebuild, as I don't want to assume at this point. It is an original hood thou. It has been off the car for 10 to 12 years. I am also not sure if a few of the responses are related to my issue or if I'm missing it. But the hood is only hitting the wipers when it is raised and lowered. Thanks
