Does someone sell new tapered axle shafts for a '63 Sure-grip 8 3/4? Can I use "green bearings" with the original axle shafts?

I don't think anyone sells new tapered axle shafts. Most people just swap out the rear axle for a later B body, 65-70, or have an 8 3/4 cut to length. I'm changing out my 63 axle with a later one and my 64 has a cut to length Dana 60.

Green bearings will not work with the keyed axle shafts.

I sell a 1 piece axle package for '62-'63 B-body housings.

You must also install '65 and newer brakes.

Any possibilities to disquise the 1 piece axles to look like tapered ones (with the castle nut etc.)? Maybe cutting the hub/end of the shaft and welding them to the flange of the new 1 piece axle?

Sure, you could do something like that.

I think I understand the interest in green bearings, but whats the reason for new tapered axles, which most do not favor? I bet there are many, including myself, that have sets laying around heading for the scrap yard.

And mine are 62's which I'm guessing are too short.

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

The reason is quite simple really. I'm restoring a '63 Plymouth and all I currently have is an empty rear end housing. To me, the tapered axle ends poking through the rear rims are one of visual details needed in an early B-body car. Used OEM axles also might not be as strong as the aftermarket "steel" axles that are available for 65 (and newer) rear ends.

On some of the aftermarket axles I've seen, the raised hub that registers the brake drum appears to be bolted on (not machined from the flange). If you have access to a lathe it would be fairly easy to machine the the hub from the tapered brake drum flange and bolt it to the new flange axle...I've thought about doing that myself just for looks.
