I just went through this last season for my glass hood, and I ended up using springs either from a late 90's cherokee or a late 80's, early 90's GMC sierra pickup truck...All it would take is a trip to your local u-pull it yard for them, and just gotta test them to see which works (wish I remembered exactly which ones I used, sorry)

I removed mine and use a broom stick from a dust mop that unsrews to hold the hood open, makes the local ricky racers make rude comments about that old mans Duster broom stick BTW, thier cars don't run in the low tens at 128+ MPH through the mufflers on pump gas either

Before you go threw the trouble try the springs you have, I have two cars fiberglass hoods and lite springs and both hoods will not stay open.

I bought springs at the hardware store (Homedepot/Lowes)...they wouldn't keep the hood open if there was even a breeze....so I added another skinny spring inside of the larger one (also from the hardware store) and it works perfectly and still looks good too.

That same guy you mentioned in your post is also posting on a-bodies for sale. There are people saying that they are happy with them. Must still be in business.

I like my prop rod, it always holds the hood up, doesn't add lift to the hood at speed, and weighs less then springs.

Did this years ago,not sure why anyone would spend more than $10.00 to get these and never have to carry a "broomstick" LOL to hold a hood up.
