With value in mind... What battery charger will I need to keep my battery topped off between rounds? What are you all using? I was thinking of maintainig 2 batteries while racing (one in trunk, and a reserve), what do you all think?
I am trying to keep the cost down on a generator purchase. My request is based on minimum requirements
F.A.S.T/1969 SUPER BEE/383/AUTO/AVS 11.58 @ 117.98 1.71 60ft mph F.A.S.T Legal
1969 DART SWINGER/340(420CI)/6.52 @ 105.39 1.45 60ft (1/8 mile)10.22 @130.5 (1/4 mile)

I use a Black and Decker smart charger (AGM compabile) to charge one yellow top Optima, between rounds. I run two classes, 1/4 mile sportsman and 1/8 mile pro with a 12.5:1, .590 MP camed 440, without a alternator. I have run this charger with a 500 watt (quite small!) Honda generator with no problem. I start the day with the battery fully charged, and put the charger on full tilt as soon as I get back to the pits. In the earlier rounds the battery is back to full charge before I run again, but in the later rounds, I have litterly put the charger on, removed my jacket, fueled the car, changed my dial in (for the other class), took the charger off and went back to the staging lanes. No kidding. And all the while running the CSI water pump and 16" Deraille fan. This charger is about $150 if I remember correctly. One other thing I really like about this charger is its size. I can put the charger in the trunk with the cord plugged up and NEVER worry about road testing the battery charger. I back my car into my pit, so when I leave for the lanes, I pull straight out. If I do forget to unplug the charger, the only thing I have dragging behind me is the 4' cord. Brian Dunnigan

I will probably end up that way, but I wanted to give this bare bones racing method a try before I go trouble free. THANKS
I'll save you from wasting your time... I tried the no alt... I tried the alt with a switch to turn off the alt... the car runs quicker with FULL electrical .... do what you want... and its very easy to wire up
