Who sells a good reproduction 15x7 wheel that is somewhat similar in overall appearance to the 450 wheel?

so did I and all I can say is check the wheels for roundness and runout BEFORE painting them and mounting your tires, etc. Mine were bad enough that one couldn't even be balanced properly.

What kind of finish do they come with? How did you prep it for paint?

That wheel looks absolutely flawless!! Nice work!

Is there an easy "at-home" way of checking for roundness and run out? Will mounting them on an axle and spinning it with a dial indicator riding on the rim work? I guess you'd having to do it both horizontally and vertically? How much run-out and "out of roundness" is acceptable?

In theory you could mount them on an axle and make the measurements yourself, but that requires special tools and very carefull measurements...I would just take them to the tire shop

Is there a tolerance that they should fall under?

Member "Drdiff" can make them for you as well. He takes original rims and converts them to the smaller center 450 style wheels.

I brought mine to the tire shop & spun them on a machine after Daves suggestion & warning.

The wheels come painted black. I had a good friend paint them for me ... Thanks Bill!
Just scuffed them up real well & shot them with single stage urethane

None of these look like 450's though.

That's why 450's bring BIG bucks! Also, Wheel Vintiques does not "make" steelies. NOBODY reproduces these wheels - Rallyes & Magnums yes, steelies no. WV removes original centers out of used wheels & welds them into new outer rings that I believe they actually produce. There is no other known source for the rings.

OK, let's hear all the "I know where there's a set on a car in a junkyard for $5.00 each" stories!

As far as I know there is nothing on the market new that looks like 450 wheels. Been down that road not too long ago. Your only options for something that looks the part are either buy the real thing $$$$$ (or the 71 version $$$$$$ too), or have them made. I took centers from 70 14" rims (common) and put them in Olds 15 x 7 outers after cutting the olds centers out. That is the only way I know of to make them appear correct and not spend the $$$$ on the real thing. I believe you can use Olds Rallys, some Buick Rallys, or some AMC rims. They are the only ones that have the correct drop down to accept the 14" center and appear correct. I have the advantage of owning a machine shop so it was a no brainer for me. I would do a search here as there are others that have been down this road.

If you are patient, you can find some that arent crazy. IT took several years, but I have "only" 1100 in the set of these for my Challenger.....It does take time. Some people still dont know...My buddy just sold one for 100. And he is pretty experienced..I was shocked. I would have bought it for that much..

Great comments. Thanks to all. I am on the path to have some made as I agree that repros just don't stack up in overall appearance. Now it becomes a matter of finding the donor stuff necessary to create the set I am trying to have made!

Wheels I had made a few years ago , but they will not make them now. They refuse to do " cut outs ", probably for insurance and liability reasons.
