Any ideas on what we're in for. Buddy of mine is have a problem with is Ram, it's hanging up in 1st & 2nd until you let of the gas. it's in a 2000 1/2 Ram 4X4 wih a 318. Would this tranny be a A518 also? Any help or ideas are much appreciated.

yes 518 could be a pressure cable problem or a problem with a tps or governor pressure solinoid just have to have it check out

Check the kickdown band adjustment. It's external to the trans so it would be one of the easier things to inspect. The prob you describe definately can be caused by a loose band.

Actually it is a 46re.
Check for codes. It could be speed sensor.

Change the fluid and filter - use only Mopar ATF+4 , see if it helps

sounds like the seals are getting weak

Had the same problem with my 2001 Ram, it was the solenoids. $300 to fix at a trans shop.
