That's one thing I gleaned from the aforementioned porting article was that the 915's have a dead air space (depression) on the short side ex port that severely needs a larger valve to elim most of it. I would get the flat piece of plastic plate & CC the heads & plug it in to a CR calculator & see what SCR you have & the 509 cam MAY not be the best choice. The calculator will also tell you how much gain you will get from the thinner head gaskets & they DO require dead flat deck/head surfaces.

The MP 509 cam is legendary. But there's also new/better technology out there. I'd use it since you have the gearing and converter to support it.
It sounds like the heads have been milled. As for the block, Chrysler wasn't the most consistent when it came to productions tolerances.
I had very good luck when I did the MP porting templates on a set of prod. cast iron heads (516). Gained at least 3 mph thru the traps and could feel more grunt compressing the rt rr leafspring when I matted it in 1st gear.
Just put it together as thoroughly as you can. Lots of old used unrebuilt Mopars got a 509 cam back in the day and they're what gave the big block wedge its street/strip credibility.
You may want to check the valve-to-piston clearance and degree it in a little advanced (4 degrees).

If it has a factory cam and lifters the push rods might work with a new cam.67 was the last year for the tapered push rods.Rocky

If that engine was freshened and still has its original 67 cam and lifter the new pushrods are not going to fit in the lifters.
Also shimming up the rockers shaft is THE WRONG way to correct for pushrods that are TOO LONG. if you need shorter pushrods then buy shorter pushrods .
