I'm looking at whats available in reproduction tuff wheels and would like some input to confirm my findings.

1. Grant tuff wheel - larger than the original but decent for a street car. The diameter is the killer here.

2. Dales tuff wheel - plastic grip looks good in pictures, but I hated it.

3. MCB tuff wheel - thin leather grip, but a funny finish on the spokes. The spokes have sharp edges which is also weird.

4. PG Classics tuff wheel - any input or is this just an MCB or Dales wheel repackaged?

5. I heard a rumor that there are two different diameters of tuff wheels, 14 and 14.5". Is there any truth to this?

I'm not aware of diff manufacturers for the "correct" tuff wheel. I got Dale's wheel on a sale they made on ebay for "blemishes" or seconds wheels in just $80... what can I say... EVEN WITH THE SMALL BELMISHES WILL GET THAT ONE OVER THE GRANT POS ADVERTISED AS A REPLACEMEENT TUFF WHEEL.

On my USA trip to Carlisle back in 2008, They were simply appearing for the first time for that show. I can't recall the seller was offering those at Carlisle ( I think couple ones more had them available at the show ), but they were exactly the same than the one I got. couple of years ago

The only small details I can talk about the one I got is the seam casting are not really nice or exact to the originals. But overal I got REALLY happy of that option againts the Grant POS

The spokes openings are also a little bit off from the originals, but just noticeable put side by side.

Diameter is the same than the original

So, I gather nobody is "rebuilding" the originals?

I bought the Grant 1004 leather wrapped Tuff wheel for my Dart. I'm very happy with it.

It's not original or an exact replica, but it's certainly not a "POS"

I didn't know they got a leather wrapp kind... certainlly looks better than the other one.

HOWEVER... let's wait how much time it takes to rust out the spokes ( like the ones I have seen )

MCB began on bussines doing it, when nobody offered decent repros yet... replacing rubber and covering with leather.

dunno if they still do

Sounds like you got a bad part, my Grant Tuff wheel looks the same as 3 yrs ago when first installed.

Very happy with it! Wish they had the leather version when I bought it.

not me... a friend of mine.

I didn't like the Grant wheel way before my friend's wheel got rusted... simply didn't like because the grip is totally incorrect.

That's just a replacement wheel but not a repro wheel

I've had mine over two years now and no signs of rust either. It is a replacement wheel, a very nice replacement wheel.

No pic, but I bought the PG one and wasn't overly impressed. The leather felt cheap, the finish on the spokes was different than an original and the 3 countersunk holes for the wheel adapter were drilled wrong. It still bolted to an original adapter but it should have been better.
I see Flaming River also sell some, for $299 I wonder what those are like?
