I just received a rebuilt thermoquad from Harms and it has a vacuum tube hook up that my existing TQ doesn't have. Can someone please advise me on where this hooks up? Thanks in advance.

Bowl vent as mentioned, Scott if it's going on your 71 Challenger, just run it to the breather on the passenger valve cover, I assume you have a 3 nipple breather?, and the ECS tube on the passenger inner fender?...

As said it's the bowl vent that originally went to a charcoal canister back in the day for emission purposes so the CC would absorb the vapors that previously were just vented to the atmosphere. Leave it open/as is & you'll be fine. I have put a gas line filter on it to filter any debris that might make its way inside but that was on a dirt track stock car & not sure if it'd be needed in a DD especially as I think the vent valve is only open at idle

Thanks for clearing that up. I do have a 3 nipple breather on pass valve cover that has one opening blocked off. I now have come across another problem with the throttle linkage. The new carb is slightly different and hits on the intake manifold. Here are some pics. I can only post one at a time so bear with me.

I would use one of the thick plastic spacers that were OE on at least some Mopars & also work as a gasket. These are about a 1/4" thick.

My air cleaner rubs on my hood insulation now, I don't think I have an extra 1/4" to play with.

I agree, that's what they came with new. If you need one I can send you one no charge

Thanks Scott, I will try it. Can you please include the tuning instructions you told me about on the phone? or maybe you could email me those. The carb looks sweet!!!

I am trying to figure out what that boss was for on the intake that your linkage is hitting on now?

Since you're alltogether I dont think you'd want to grind/repaint the manifold there on the side. If you're using an open element air cleaner what about a slightly shorter element & Scotts spacer? EDIT or a drop base air cleaner

I have to use the stock air cleaner cause I love the wrinkle finish and I have an all stock look.

Could I just cut off that little elbow that is on the new carb and not on the old carb?

Yes I'll send you some instructions as well. As far as the area that it is hitting, it appears you have a 71 vintage cast iron intake or similar? The area the linkage is hitting is the boss for the idle stop solenoid mounts, if it's just hitting that roll pin you can remove the roll pin and it might clear? If not I'd wait on modifying the linkage until after you try the spacer, after that if it still hits we can revisit it and find a way to fix the issue, shouldn't be a big deal.

here is a pic of my original spacer. and idle solenoid, you can use a plastic spacer that comes with many rebuild kits,

You can paint the plastic one hi heat aluminum to match the original aluminum spacer since it looks like your doing a stock original type resto on the engine, also use two gaskets.

Yes, that is correct. If you are restoring a 71 340 car to factory specs that's the spacer you need. The factory only used those for one year, an aluminum spacer about 1/8" thick sandwhiched between two multi layer foil/asbestos flat gaskets. I make reproductions of the aluminum plates (inquire for pricing) and commnly available paper replacement gaskets will work in place of the obsolete asbestos variety. These were replaced in later years with several styles of thick paper/cardboard gaskets (which I'm sending you unless otherwise instructed) which are still available and work just fine if all you need is proper linkage clearance and 100% originallity is not your goal.
