How freely should the shaft spin after reassembling a distributor. 1973 electronic.

An electronic distributor has no points and cam to slow its rotation, so it should be rotatable freely.

If you adjusted the lower end play by adding shims above the plastic collar you'd want the axial play to be .005". www.speedwaymotors.com has a nice kit of 1/2" ID shims for that for cheap. As Dog said it should spin free/no binding
