Hi Guys, I saw a 69 newport 383 2 door hardtop for sale on craigslist that has a factory clutch and a 3 speed on the column. I wondered will a b-body 4speed fit in it? Would be cool with a 4 speed and my old long rams on it! Listed in Quadcites IL. craigslist if anyone is interested. Good luck Bob

Wow, what a mixed bag that rare care is.
On one hand there is absolute the cool factor in having a stick shift 69 Newport Coupe coupled with a big block. As-is or as a potential killer Pro-Tourer, this is the car.
On the other hand, there are two major sticking points.
1. Wheeling around a stick shift beast of these proportions withOUT P.S. and P.B? Whew. I'm tired already.
2. He wants almost 6 grand. Yes, consider it a "starting point" but that point is awfully high to start with in trying to get it down to a reasonable price.

As far as converting it to a four speed?
An A833, a bell housing, a Hurst shifter, a repro tunnel hump,a floor shift steering column, new carpet.... You could do it for probably 3 grand and now you're into it nine grand!!
Piece of cake - lol.
