Welcome Jim, Sounds like a nice car, I personally would keep it stock and restore it back to original but I always tell people to do what makes you a happy. Here is the fender tag decoder for the basics http://www.stockmopar.com/mopar-fender-tag-decoder.phpIf you got any questions feel free to ask. I just finished mine last April now im working on a 66 Charger. Dennis

I once read on here some good advice that was given to a converted "GM" guy.
Think back to the most expensive restoration you ever did on a general motors car. Now times that amount by 3 for most Mopars. But lucky for you it is times 4 for cudas or challengers!
Sounds like you have a sweet ride there, I love my 340 challenger. Good luck with it. This is the place for about any question you may have.

There was a post about your new car in the last couple weeks, but it must have been in the eBay/wiw forum & is no where to be found. I believe the general consensus was a "light gold metallic" 340 Challenger with black accents would be a RARE sight & would look great!! Here's an A66 thread: happy readin' FY4 & black

Welcome Jim! Whatever you do, take a million pictures of absolutely everything on the car. Does it have original paint, or if it was repainted is it painted in the same color as it was originally? Try to use as many original parts as you can. Did you find a broadcast sheet in the car? If you think that fender tag had a lot of information, well, the sheet has a lot more! That is a rare color for a Challenger, so for whatever my two cents are worth, I would make sure that you keep the car that color.... and a four speed to boot. Great car and a late build date.

Which GM car(s) did you own? 1,295 Challenger hardtops were built in FY4, which is 3.4%. This is for US cars and not total production. That gold Road Runner is one of the most I've seen.

Congrats, sounds like a nicely optioned car/colored car. My Challenger is also an A66 car originally but was missing the original 340 engine & trans when I bought it so it is going the Drag Radial, true 10.5 route & becoming more of a drag car.

It is your car paint as you wish, but I think it's a great original color and well optioned. I myself would restore it with original colors and options, as it's nice to have or see something different. Build a nice little stroker for it and have fun. Hopefully I will get mine done someday. (to many projects) My early A66 came with some odd things and will go back together the same way even though alot of people here say there not correct and did not come that way. Flat hood with hood pins, black grille, wheel mouldings, front and rear torque boxes, just because it should not have, doesn't mean it didn't. Like said in prior post take lots of notes and pictures. This is a good place and good people to get info from. Have fun.
