I guess 'reminds me' of my car might be closer. It's a w1, a12, 4 speed bee with a very hard past. And present. Except for the trans, picked clean, play doh restoration and shot black probably in the early 80's. I bought it sight unseen in 99 with the intent of beating on it until I break it and am pleased to say I've accomplished that task several times over. Been replacing the missing bits as $ allows but 75k + restos aren't too likely. Need the dana now. One pic at a12faq . com and here's one, both on the day it showed up. The discs will be a nice upgrade and the ramcharger looks so good on the 69 bees.

Very cool ride, man! I didn't accomplish a lot last night. It was on the ground for the first time since February. I pushed it out of the garage a little and hit the engine bay with some Super Clean and a little brushing and some water. Looks like a cleaner mess. Also hunted down two brake leaks and did a little bleeding to them. It seems to have all the air out, but I'm really really, really not happy with the pedal feel. The whole braking system is new. I ran silicon brake fluid. I'm wondering if it is more 'sqhishy'. I'll keep bleeding until I get what I want. A friend is getting the front tires mounted today. I'llmmost likely put them on tonight, but I have to take a break for the weekend. It's getting to the point I'm waiting on some parts. Not there yet, but it's getting closer.

Back on the ground again. Out for a quick rinse. Engine bay mid wash. It looks better than it did.

I think it may sit up a tad when I get the rear shocks back on it and another 730 pounds in the front... I wanted to play a little. So I bolted some stuff on the engine. Super Stocks to be added.

A little more progress. Flywheel on, which means the engine is finally off the stand. Clutch disk. Should be no slipping! Since the trans wasn't done, might as well use the new input shaft for an alignment tool. Engine had a pilot bushing in it already. Was even still tight! Pressure plate added, all torqued down.

Trans apart. The sea of blue towels is because it wasn't empty. Almost empty case. What I have cleaned and set on some clean blue towels. I'm getting very close. A little closer each day. Once the trans is in, I'll get the engine wired, plumbed, and cooled. Also have to finish the fuel system. Tighten the tank straps, run the rubber line, install vent lines, etc. I'm pushing it on time.. Sorry about the crappy pics. My phone was about dead. I turned the resolution down, too, but not the size.

Didn't do a lot tonight. Put the carb on and picked up some odds and ends from a friend. Aside from exhaust, I think all the big purchases are done for now. I need a cap and rotor, some hard line from the fuel pump to the carb, rubber hose from the tank to the line, some longer bolts for the valve covers, and a carb stud. Oh, an air filter is a must, as well. Looks like everything will fit under the hood well! We'll see when it gets a Performer RPM.

Well, I got the transmission in tonight. Did a few other odds and ends. Put in the radiator and cleaned up the air cleaner top so it is a little closer to the new valve covers. Put it back down on the ground and the rear springs are awfully low. I'll try and adjust the torsion bars some to bring the front down. We'll see how it looks. Now the crappy news. I've put all the effort and time I have available into it to get it ready for the Nats and Woodward. Looks like I will probably get to do neither. Or one with the car. The cash has dried up and once it is running, tags and title and insurance are beyond the budget. So it looks like the epic Nats weekend is just going to be 'cool' for my like every other year. Oh well, what can you do. Maybe I'll be able to hit Norwalk and end the 'Mopar season' on a high note.

Don't feel bad. I put myself on a deadline last fall to at least get my car running good enough to take my 11 year old daughter for a ride around the block, I promised her. I got it running just good enough to take her for that ride, with no interior in the car...just 2 seats, then back in the garage for more work. You are on a pretty aggressive pace and that gets expensive fast. My car sat for 10 years while I collected the big parts. When it was time to install the drivetrain it was unbelievable how much little nickel and dime parts cost $$$$$. I also had to back off as my toy budget was empty. I've been tinkering with it all summer and it's still NOT completely done, probably never will be. I'm currently battling with a creeky over center clutch pedal spring...what a joy that was to get out. Keep your spirits up and don't try to do it all at one time..
