What are you all using to limit the forward/rearward movement of your engine when running a motor plate? Are you using anything at all? I am helping out a friend with some parts on his car, it's a World RB block and Powerslide trans. He has an engine plate and the standard trans mount. No mid plate unfortunately. The engine bay is painted and there isn't a lot of room in the lower section of the bay. I would love to see some pics of your set ups, or hear your opinions on whether they are required or not? Thanks in advance

Yes you need them(at least 1)... if the car launches hard it could bottom out the drive shaft... I use one on both sides of the engine attached to the motor mount ears.... sorry no pics ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif)

I run a front motor plate on my MP Megablock without any midplate or engine limiters. I run a standard transmission mount and solid motor mounts.I bought a mid plate from S&W but did not have enough room to install with stock firewall, inner fenders and chassis. Have been doing this for the last 6 years without any problems. B body 3600 lbs.,572 motor mid 9's with 1.30 60 fts. Best of 8.62/161 mph with juice! It does leave HARD and has not broken anything yet. Probably 400 + passes! ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbs.gif) Mike

I use the ears on the trans.[727]. They are just infront of the crossmember. I believe they are there to hold the trans during assembly.
A simple strut/rod back to the crossmember will do it.

I used 2 off my rear trans crossmember to the bellhousing. 1/2 CM rod with 3/8 ends. Then a rubber mount on the trans. I have a 1/4 front alum plate and a .090 mid plate made of steel. Makes trans removal and clutch work a lot nicer.

Mike, looks like to me that those little bars were welded to hold the plate that the motor plate bolts to....rather than just using an "L" off the frame rail.
I didn't use one for years on my RB Mirada... until I was chasing a tail shaft breakage issue, then we installed one. That wasn't the problem.

I swear I see a bracket "L" welded to the frame and he is holding the top of the plate with those bars ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif)

Look at maybe going to the oil pan bolts at the front corners and going forward... if you use those I would use 2 limiters... if you have zero momentum its easier to hold it still ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif)
