Have you changed the voltage regulator?

I'm assuming it has the same charging system used from '70 & up? check for switched voltage at the blue wire field terminal on the alt and to the blue wire at the reg triangle connector. See if the green wire has continuity between the end at the alt field terminal and the other end at the reg side terminal. Check that the reg is grounded. All that is left is a bad reg as Stumpy said.
