Is there anyone out there running a 904 or a 727 ( aluminum case ), behind their Flathead? Are there any adaptors out there for them? I know there are adaptors for the Cheevy trannys but I want to keep mine 100% mopar.

Funny thing! I was looking for just the same thing the other night. qualityengineeredcomponents.com has an adapter kit for the flathead 6, it says for the 904 or 500 OD trans. Do you have a 6 or 8? The flathead 8 uses a different bellhousing pattern I think. The website says the 8 is in progress or special order, can't remember which one. It has several pictures, you'll have to fabricate kickdown linkage though. Check it out! Their phone no's are 888-436-4727 or 541-617-0613

Remember the old sluggush 6 volt positive starter on 99% of our flatheads? How about a 12 volt mini starter twisting that flathead around. Next thing we need is an MSD ignition and we are set.

If you feed that 6 volt starter 12 volts, they spin pretty fast. As long as you don't crank them for extended periods (25-30 seconds) of time all at once, they last a long time. With long crank times, the life expediency is pretty short on 12 volts. Keep in mind, the old flatheads don't like high rpms either. Gene

5200 rpm is tops on ours in the 1/4 and that's with a 4.78 gear. It's a hummin for a while and bullit proof. 14.50 and 91 mph. We want to go quicker. The car hasn't seen action since 1968. We know a little more now. hahaha

I now have a 727 hanging on my Chrysler Flathead , and that opens a lot of doors. High stall speed converters, tranny brake , hard shift manual valve bodies, mini starters, and "park". Pull the tranny out of the ss/aa car and jam it to the Flathead. I may be racing the old Flathead Chrysler powered Willys this year after a 45 year absence from the track. Might even go s/s springs on the old Willys too!

Hey hey hey, you want a picture of what I raced when I was 15, then go to page 13 on this "Street Rodders" blog and go to the Hemifred , March 30th, 2011 post that he did for me, at 8:33pm. Item number 6558652. 3-2's--tube headers, not those cast thing that you can buy today,---Spitfire head. Thats what I will be pulling out of storage soon to update. I have been looking for a tork flite adaptor for the last 40 years for this set up. I want to keep it all Mopar. I found a complete 251 Chrysler Flatty with a tork Flite hanging on it and it is all 100% MOPAR. Even the adaptor has a CDPD logo & part number. If you want to see the car , go to my web site www.sledcityevents.com and go to the Sled City Racers Gallery and you will see the old Willys Aero in action, even before Kennedy was killed. It's been around the block a time or two and I hope you enjoy the pictures and the fact that I will be looking into mass producing these adaptors.

John Kunkle, Doc Fiberglass, I am glad you called me out on this one. That means that there is some interests in putting an aluminum 727 behind an old flatty and keeping it 100% MOPAR . Anybody else interested in that adaptor? My 38 Dodge coupe will get one too.

Even better, put a OD automatic behind it for cruising!

That's a good idea for my 38 Dodge. You can see my 38 on my site, www.sledcityevents.com in the Sled City Racers gallery. It is black and red with 5 spoke tork thrusts.

For those of you that are interested in a 904 on the back of your Mopar Flatty, go to ebay item # 230920954021. For only $360 those units could be had.
