Have the 69 runner off to the paint shop again and wondering should I black out the window channels for front and rear glass. The car is an R4. Is this necessary to do or should I just leave them body color?
Second question, does anyone have the guide for "blacking out the grille" area on a 69 road runner?

Thanks,
Mark

I painted my inside channels because they show through around the inside trim when everything is assembled. I just used a brush and a can of Rustoleum semigloss enamel. Just do the pinch weld area.

The RR blackout is best seen in the MMC judging book. It is not a detailed paint job, and doesn't extent to the bottom of the radiator support like most restored cars I have seen. The manual is less than $100 and shows where over-spray is supposed to be. It is also done before the headlight buckets go in. Also make a cardboard template to fill the radiator opening. I didn't take any pictures of mine when we did it.

Can't say I ever heard of blacking out the window channels. Now I'll have to check out the ones here that have never been repainted with the glass out.

As far as the rad support, there are a lot of posts on this over the years. Not sure if you will find an exact answer for that.

I have a black out for the ebodies, I guess I can use that diagram.
As far as the window black, I heard that if the gasket is not right/small/ etc. it can show some paint through.
Got it pinchweld to inside 90 degree corner. That is what I thought would be good.

I'm saying no they weren't because it's a good places to look after cleaned to see the body color.

no I dont think they were. Its been apart too long and I don't remember. I have just read post b4 about people with bright colors having their paint show where the glass rubbers didnt cover everything. Just trying to think ahead if this is needed.
