Who has the most bang for the buck? I have a 1969 383 block that I want to stroke for a 71 cuda. I want to run pump gas(91 octane), good power without a big converter, 3.55 gears, mild lope.
Any ideas?

Not a big deal these days, several places have 383 stroker kits on the shelf. I wrote a few magazine articles on a 383 stroker that I did a few years ago. That was an old school engine with a 440 crank, but it was still a nice little motor.

First stroker I ever built was a 383....took a lot of sucker bet $$$ with that one in the early 80's

Used a 440 crank a bushed rod and if a flat top low compression 454 chevy truck piston, what a Frankenstein but man did it haul AZZ with a max wedge ported epoxied 915 head!

Andy did you do the mild stroker Mopar Muscle did ? I think it was a .030 over 383 with the 440 3.75 crank for about 431 cubes. Put it in a 65 Coronet and ran 11.70's. Ron

I got to be part of two 383 builds with 4.25" cranks. 496 inches and with stock edelbrock RPM heads one made 571 hp. It was a flat top piston however, so unless you're at a fairly high elevation, I would dip the compression down under 11.5:1 with aluminum heads. The prices have become so reasonable it's hard to argue with going big.
