Not to kick the can down the road but, clink.
Ryan started out a young guy getting over his head sometimes. I have heard some things that were not very favorable. Just a case where it was more to what needed to be done than he was ready for at the time. Instead of making a mess maybe he should have sent the stuff back. I have seen pics there is no denying. But, I took a block to Ryan and he got what I needed done. And I had not failures with the job. Their are some things I wish were different. But, that could be fixed with pushrod restricters. I think Ryan has come a long way over the years. I have seen some work that was really nice in recent years.
Indy has always been hard to deal with the personalities. Josh is there now and I would think has brought change. They have a lot of happy customers. But, I have seen some stuff that was overadvertised over the years. I have had the main guru tell me some BS just to promote their heads.
Ryan has always been perfectly straight with me. I may not have liked the answer but, feel he was straight with me. That ranks very high in my book. I hate a %*^%*^%*^ LIAR.

I recently picked up a set of Indy 360-2 oval port heads for my 410ci bracket engine. I would like to get them 230cc CNC ported, Shady Dell & Indy Cylinder Head both offer a CNC program for these heads. Any pros or cons for either place? Good or Bad experiances?
Thanks.
I was under the impression that there was two cast versions of the oval port head. The regular head you can't put a 230 CNC program into it. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shruggy.gif)

I talked to Ryan on the phone today, he said that the 230cc CNC would be no problem on my heads!

I think most guys on this site are stuck using the same engine guys all the other mopar guys use. As I have in the past but if you get out of the box there are engine builders, head guys that are far better then the old go to shops.
just by reading your posts, i am assuming you have no idea what CNC means... most small shops dont even have a cnc machine.. then the chances that they spent the r&d and money to write a good program for the specific head that the OP asked about is slim to none.. but hey, thanks for playing ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbs.gif)

I know a couple of VERY unhappy customers of ShadyDell.. (someone needs to say it)
I hate posts like this, no reason to make it unless you bother to state the facts. Not saying you're wrong but come on, the internet and this forum is better than what your making it out to be.
You might hate these types of post, but, it's what it is. Some surround ede heads, others touched up chapmans, etc. Some posters in here actually have experience in the lack of satisfaction arena.
I know guys that can mess up a wet dream and blame others. Also, there are those that know what they are doing and not happy. Go figure.
I guess if people only want to know about the happy bandwagon, have at it.

Let me guess you have a rinky dink old ass small block that puts out 400HP and your the sh--- right. Put together a $30,000.00 plus motor together and then we'll talk about CNC who knows what. I have dealt with both of the shops mentioned and both suck.

From his profile "owner and driver of 68 Barracuda with a R3 W8 small block putting out 800 hp"
He had an engine built by Ryan and wasn't happy with it.

totally true. at least you have the guts to admit it. my buddy used both; he is not a member of this site, but if he was he would've probably been banned by the things he had to say about shadydell and indy. he was taken advantage of by both; sand was applied! he still walks funny to this day from both dealings, lol. pathetic work and nothing but excuses. nothing wrong with telling the truth to save others money and headaches. I wouldn't let either machine a nickel or assemble a salt shaker from the bad work I witnessed on my friends engines.

Not necessarily better just done by a computer thus less labor intensive ie: less expensive

I have a question, why is a cnc port job better than a hand port job?
because all work is completed identical via a machine.
