It's a stock class. Cast IRON intake and exhaust manifolds!

Ok just to be sure. Here is a pic of the intake manifold from my stock Dodge truck 75 440. Part # 3830733-2 and 05110 cast into it. I also have the same one on a 73 Dodge truck 440. When you all say 71 TQ manifold, are you not talking about just any TQ manifold? Is the 71 a taller/better manifold? Anyone have a pic? Thank you.

No Thermoquad carbs and intakes on 440 motors until 1973, as already pointed out I'm thinking a stock cast iron Thermoquad intake and a Carter 1000 CFM Competion series Thermoquad, if you can find one, might be a good combination If not a 1000 CFM then a 850 CFM Competion sereies And Max Wedge exhaust manifolds or 440-3 motor home center dumps

There are a few pounds to be gained by grinding the heat crossover off the bottom of a cast iron intake.

So I'm assuming you can port the intake right? And does it have to be FACTORY cast iron or can it be an aftermarket cast iron intake, although I don't think such a thing exists for a Mopar but I'm sure someone or their dog casts one for a Chevy. The Max Wedge exhaust manifolds are a good idea, I'm sure it'll spin the Chevy boys out and they'll cry foul as they probably wouldn't have a clue they were factory peices

If I'm not mistaken there was a single four intake made for a max wedge in Nascar 1962-63. Use max heads, intake and exaust, a killer combo.

Is it cast iron? I thought the single 4 max wedge intakes were aluminum? Or maybe I'm confusing it with the single 4 Hemi intake for NASCAR in 64-65. If the max wedge intake is cast iron, that would be the one to use, although I can't imagine it would be cheap

Just cast iron, nothing says it has to be factory cast iron. As all the Ford and Chevy guys are using aftermarket cast iron. And port work is ok.

Maybe I'm confusing Quadrajet with Thermoquad .. Thanks again to all who reply. I never expected a rookie to get this much help. It certainly doesn't work that way on the diesel sites ..

Thermoquads are made by Carter, Quadrajets where made by Roochester.I don't think that any of the quadrajets ever exceeded 700 CFM, not so on the Thermoquads As far as a cast iron M.W. intake never was done as far as I know, I remember Richard Petty driving a single four barrel M.W. 727 automatic at Riversdie Raceway in probally 1962, he didn't finish The single four barrel intake for the M.W. was really low profile Have you heard of metal spray? Mopar had a lot of aluminum parts metal sprayed for the factory back racers to keep up with the competion, aluminum 4 speed cases, possibly some CH4B intakes with the Edlebrock #s ground off of them before spraying them, water pump housings, water pumps and other parts
