what could cause minor valvetrain noise between 2000-3000 on a i year old 440 mostly stock. sounds like cling a pen. cant hear at idle. is it normal for a little noise?

nothing at all. 30 psi oil press at idle 65 @ 2500

Is it only between 2 and 3K ?
Does it do it while the engine is free wheeling

yea under load it is not noticable at all.

it isnt loud either just enough to make me think and really anoy me.

let me refrase my replys. between 2k&3k it is heard. under 2k it is much quiter and @idle it goes away. above 3k i cant really notice it but the exaust gets louder so it may just hide it. in park at these rpms it is the loudest. under load i can not hear it at all. but once again the exaust gets louder. thanks for the help

Have you noticed any drop in oil pressure
since the engine was redone ?
What rockers
What lifters
do you have

crane hydrolick lifiters. no major drop. mabe 1 or 2 psi when hot. yeat i have over 20000 miles since the rebuild in late 2006

stock rockers crane 260 h cam and hydrolic lifters with crane valve springs atock pushrods
