Since this came up on the registry and now again, this weekend I'll put mine on a food scale then maybe someone can get the weight off of the repro.
I can't afford this.

Weight is a big thing. The repo's are very light compared to an Original. If you have a known newer issue 6 pack lid hold it in one hand and hold what you think maybe the real 6 pack lid, You will feel the difference esily...Can't weigh mine to give a weight no small scale...Hope that helps..
thanks for this idea, i have a small weight scale, and a newer 440 six pack lid, so i will weigh both, take pics of both, and post my findings here for future use on the site. thanks again folks!

A real lid has a flat on 1 side which is at the back of the lid on the edge. Repro's do not have this.

I've had my lid for far longer than the repro's have been available so I know it's an original piece. It weighs 3 lbs 13 1/4 oz.
I could see a few extra coats of paint and a few extra stickers being the difference of 2.5 oz's.
Now we need a known repop weight.
Not to force it but I whipped this up to show the difference between the A12 T/A AAR lids and the '6 pack' lid since they be confusing if you're not 3 X 2 savvy.
I can't afford this.

thanks for the info, also, i show a repop weight pic right above the AAR lid pic. they weigh about the same, so much for the weight being a tell tale!

There you go, you're weighing two different lids, one has the lip, one does not. Apples to oranges.
Ahh but now we have a weight for the original type n96 lid from Dan.
It would appear the repop weighs a half pound more than an original.
I have original lids and repo lids and you can feel the weight difference. I traded a member(BlackHemiRR) on here and original non fresh air 6 pack lid for an original A-12 lid but also took him a brand new repo 6 pack lid. He even held both of them and could not believe the difference in weight....Mine were bare though,no heavy primers with coats of paint and clear which can easily add up to extra weight. The repos are the ones that are thinner and lighter...
