My car is built pretty much like something out of a 1970s Direct Connection catalog as it is anyway, so I'm thinking about putting a Weiand tunnel ram and a pair of Holley 600 1850s on it to make it even more old school.
Current combo is an iron-headed 440 with a Performer RPM, 850 DP, 9.5 Dynamic, 3.91s with a best of 7.96 at 85.6, 1.71 60 foot. I'm thinking a tunnel ram should be good for maybe another couple tenths off in the 1/8?
Way back in the 80s a friend used to run 440 with a tunnel ram, 590 DC cam in a '67 Belvedere street car and I remember it used to cruise fine on the street and was good for mid 12s on regular old L60-15 street tires.
I'm at the point where I'm running out of little things to do to go faster and this seems like a pretty good bang-for-the-buck if I can pick up the intake used. What do you guys think?

I have never ran a tunnel ram so I dont know much about them other then when I see dyno test and they use a tunnel ram it always seems to make the most hp. Heck I would go for it as it will definetly look cool and I would think it will go faster. Good luck , Ron

My old combo was similar to yours except mine is a 451 (400. I ran 906 heads and had the Weiand TR/1850 combo, it would go 10.90's, we moved to the Mopar 590 cam and traded out the 1850's for a pair of center squirters, we went a best of 10.75 at 3300 lbs. With that combo in my car, it liked rpms. The more I would spin it the faster it would go. I'm not sure I would want to spin a stock rod/piston 440 to 6600 on a regular basis, I was probably living on borrowed time even doing it with the lighter 451/400 combo. So If I was you would I do it, ABSOLUTELY, but it make it work good you will likely need more converter.

I ran the M1 tunnel ram on a 9 sec 451" street car, I loved it but it drank the fuel cell faster than I could afford to fill it.

I'd like to try the one like ARI440 has, but I'm too cheap...
That intake is supposed to be THE one as the runners are as close to perfect for length for the rpm range most 440's run in. It was never offered with a 2X4 top tho so you would have to build your own.
You see them for sale usually in the $500 range so yes a little spendy for a used intake.
