I've got a 69 Cuda with a thumb wheel AM radio. Last owner didn't have it hooked up or have a speaker. What are the cost differences to have mine converted to AM/FM or just put a small unit in the glove. Leave the original in place for effect. What have you guys done? I'm thinkin the glove box is going to be cheaper. I need to find speaker too.

I stuck one in the glove box in my R/T and I HATE IT! Its a PITA to turn on, switch stations, tune, and volume controls....you get the idea.

When I did this the conversions werent as common and pretty scarce so I really didnt have a many options but to try and find an AM/FM thumbwheel which wasnt easy either.

IMO.....get a conversion done.....

I think you can get one today with a remote, don't even have to see it.

We do the conversion for $ 459 ,you can run up to 4 speakers, 180 watts total power, RCA jacks (and the adapter to run the small diameter devices such as MP3 Ipod etc).
Radio remains 100% original in appearance .
A good working factory AM FM will run you about $ 600 give or take
and you will have 5 1/2 watts .

Do the conversion. Looks stock, they include an MP3 jack and you can keep your glove box for junk.

In the 90's I went with the Secret audio radios from Custom Auto Sound, have two of them and share the CD player. If I we doing it today I would go for the conversion as MP3 is the way to go. Soon mobile radio will all be Cellular based and you can hose that into the car system, new cars all have USB inputs now.
