A friend of mine is inquiring about obtaining a reproduction black dash pad for his 69 Dart. Checked last night and found Classic Industries, PG Classics, and B/EA has them. Any recommendations?

there are a few places that make them, but yet to find one with the correct grain.

B/EA and PG Classic for sure have the best ones made just like originals with metal cores, molded foam and molded vinyl.

Don't know if Classic Industries is getting them form the same supplier (PG Classics)

They might not be 100% correct grain. But you would have to have an original right next to it to tell. The are very close.

For the price, it's the best thing and best value next to an 40 year original, which may decide to crack for the first time at any given moment.

Here's a 1968 original pad vs. an 1968 BEA and PG repro.

The curvature profile is a little off in places. But again, you have to look for it. IIRC, they are $225.

A Just Dashes recover would probably have better curatures (given a good core). I don't think any better grain. And I think they are about double $225.

They are nice. I will give them that. But, As soon as I look at the pad that was the first think that stood out was the wrong grain. I did not need to put them side by side. The grain stands out. Just like most of this repro stuff, so close to being correct. But not.
