Hello everyone .

I have a friends charger in my garage . It's a 66 w/ a 69 440 from a 300 . My problem is the power steering return hose is 2 different sizes & is leaking & very soft .

The pump side is about 3/8" & the box side is about 5/8" . The smaller hose is actually inside the larger hose & clamped down .

Nobody remembers where the pump is from . It has the small filler cap .

Any ideas for a proper repair ?

I may have a box from my old '73 barracuda I can use for parts .

Thanks for your help .

You can unbolt the return fitting from the steering box and replace it with a later style that will match your later pump with the 3/8" return. The older Federal pumps used 5/8" and most people replaced the hydraulic hose with heater hose.

Here is a link to a place that can hook you up if you do not have a yard or core to borrow parts from:

Good luck!
