Trying to button up my doors on my '65 Belvedere. Looks like I have issues with the door lock cylinders. One won't turn at all with the key, that should not be a big deal, it just needs re-keying, I figure.

The other, though (the driver's side), turns with the key counter-clockwise only. Shouldn't it turn one way to lock the door and the other to unlock the door? It looks like there are stops on the actuator lever that won't let it go both ways. Is it maybe not the correct cylinder? Maybe they are trunk lock cylinders? I'm confused.

I also figured out the '65 cylinders are different from later model cylinders and they are hard to find.

Let me know how these cylinders are SUPPOSED to work and help me figure out what I have and what I need to do. Thanks.

They turn both ways. One way unlocks the other locks.I had a spare set but sold them with my sedan doors.Any good locksmith should be able to fix them. Its been years since Ive looked at mine.Rocky
