I have most of the stuff for the A-body swap to my '68 Charger except the calipers and hoses.

Should I be using the Cardone 18-4063/18-4064 or the 18-4065/18-4066 Pin-type calipers when mounted to the rear with 11-3/4" diameter rotors and adapters?

The brake hose tabs are welded on the frame rail towards the rear.

I've read to use 1980 Volare hoses (Dorman H104350/H104352) with a banjo bolt (Dorman 13938, 7/16"-20).

Does the hose in the picture look correct too?

Thanks

John

18-4065/18-4066 IF you have pin type 11.75" caliper adapter. IIRC, the new Doctor Diff caliper adapters are slider type.

Trick is to make sure the brake hose area is machined flat and not dinged up. This is because the banjo fitting requires a crushable copper washer to make the seal to the caliper surface.

You can also get braided line. This is braided line for a rear hung pin type caliper with a brake hard line behind the suspension like yours.

Thanks AutoxCuda

I just blasted and painted a pair of adapters today.

It's just that I read in one post that when pin-type calipers are mounted to the rear someone mentioned to use the 1973-75 B-body calipers (18-4063/18-4064) with the 1980 Volare hoses.

I've been on Moparts for 14 years and I still haven't ironed out what to properly use!

But as I work my way around this car, it will all get figured out.

This is the bottom view of Cardone's 18-4063/18-4064 caliper.

The caliper has an "ear" for the 1980 Volare "square" hose end to mate to and to keep it from swiveling.

Is that a plus

Does it work?

With the braided flex lines I used, I'd rather have them on top to get a nice semi-circular arc from the caliper to the frame bracket.

You just need to make sure there is a machined surface on the 18-4065/18-4066 calipers you get. Taking a file to flat dress the mating surface will go a long ways (other type too).

I think both could be made to work.

**Edit**

This is the stock hose I used. Off a 76 Cordoba:

BENDIX Part # 88611, CENTRIC Part # 15063008

Is the reason you're rear hanging them because you have a stock sway bar? If you don't have a sway bar, you can front hang them with a lot less difficulty.

Yeah JD, I have the factory front swaybar.

I picked up the calipers today.

I think I have it from here.

I'll smooth the area on the caliper under the copper washer too.

Thanks for the help!
