I have the parts to change from column auto to console shift on my 67 dart. I need to know the distance from some hard point to locate the console. I suppose one could from under the car find the place where the hole should be made. Anyone have some advice? Thanks Ron

With the rug out of the way, you will see the circle on the drivers side of tunnel. Thats where the boot mounts for the shaft that attaches to bracket on trans. Get your shifter and brackets mounted first.

IIRC when I did my 69 Dart the dimples were in the floor where the console brackets were to be tack welded. I def agree with the above post, we located the shifter first, hard to mess up once it's installed.

Here are a few pics I found of the install.

I did the same in my '73 Dart, work your way up from the transmission.
Connect the linkage on the tranny first, then inside temporarly position the shifter with brackets and see if it goes through all the gears properly, then weld the brackets in place.
