I beleve the dealer can reflash and there may be a kit that by-passes it on Gino's site. But I could be wrong.

You dont need to program it to the vehicle just disconnect the batter plug it in and reconnect, then turn the key on for a min before you start it.

From what I've been told yes, it will start and move by doing that but you run the risk of some of the options on the vehicle not working properly. That is why they have to program it to the vehicle.

If the board has an open circuit it is possible to do the repair yourself. I lost all running lights on my o2 Ram 1500 and it turned out to be a corroded portion of the board. There is a very good writeup on how to perform this surgery on the dieseltruckresource forum at the links below. I have alos included pics of the repair that I did on mine. I just used a dremmel tool to remove the the protective coating on the board. With a 10 watt soldering iron I "tinned" each side of the break. I then "tinned" a short length of wire bent at a 90 degree angle to give me something to hold on to and absorb any excess heat. just a quick dab on each end of the wire bridging the gap was all it took. I then clipped off the excess with (not shown in the pics) and reassembled the box. Its been working fine for about 3 weeks. Anyone replaced one of these lately, I am having issues with a '06 Dakota causing intermittent trans issues. I see aftermarket ones on the web from a bunch of sources other than the dealer
