DusterDave OP top fuel D Joined: Jul 2010 Posts: 1,845 Tampa	I'm not able to get that last "clunk" to fully seat the converter hub to the pump lugs. I've read that the lugs should be in the 6 and 12 o'clock position. If this is true, how can I move the lugs? Mine are at roughly the 3 and 9 o'clock position. Any tips on how to get it to seat all the way? Gone to the dark side with an LS3 powered '57 Chevy 210

If so, stand it on the tailshaft (gently) and spin the convertor until it drops in. Should take no more than 10 seconds. Old, tired, and sometimes broke down. Me, not my car...

If I look at it from a side angle, the raised pads on the converter where the flexplate mounts to, stick out past the mounting face of the bellhousing. They should be inside, right? Gone to the dark side with an LS3 powered '57 Chevy 210

There was a recent post on this very thing in the race section you can refer to but your pads should be "inside" the mounting surface a bit (opinions vary but I was good with 1/8 - 3/16). I had a very stubborn one on a race 727 years ago that would fight hard. The on-end was the only way I could get it in and then half the time it popped out on me while installing the trans. I feel your pain! Old, tired, and sometimes broke down. Me, not my car...

Any tips on how to get it to seat all the way? Just take a small pocket screwdriver and turn the inner pump gear untill the lugs are at 12 and 6 oclock

buildanother I Live Here B Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 11,543 chicagoland,usa	Just line up the slots to where the pump tabs are at, 9 and 3 oclock in your case, and do some careful wiggling of converter turning it just a hair back and forth rotationwise and it should go in. The mounting lugs should sit about 1/2 inch or more behind mounting surface of trans-engine.

DusterDave OP top fuel D Joined: Jul 2010 Posts: 1,845 Tampa	SUCCESS!! I took a long thin flat screwdriver and slid the pump lugs to the 6 and 12 position, and after a few turns, she fell into place. Funny thing is, it was overcast all morning, but as soon as I made the last effort to fit the converter, the sun came out. Gone to the dark side with an LS3 powered '57 Chevy 210

I feel your pain! It took hanging mine to get it to drop in. After that it dropped right in. Kayse can't keep up at all now. lol
