What did the factory use to cover the seam and screw areas so they don't show under the vinyltop? Does anyone have pictures of this?
It looks like my window plug had duct tape over the screw holes, did someone do this afterwards? Vinyltop was long gone, so I don't know what was under it..?

Duct tape would be fine, originally the screw holes were taped with a foil tape & the rest of the seam had a layer of cloth glued over it...

Mine had the same layer of cloth as well. I could never find anything to reproduce the same material but used a similar thing found at a fabric store.

The moulding that divides the vinyl to the body paint was different to non se vinyl top cars so make sure you have the correct ones. 71 formal roof mouldings are also different part numbers but I'm not sure what the difference is. All the best Frank

The screws were covered with a 2" wide aluminum foil tape. You can find this tape at an auto parts store or in Home Depot where the wetherstrip is. The stainless steel trim moulding that separates the vinyl top from the body is actually a one piece moulding which is much thinner than a non S/E car. The S/E used a much thinner moulding. I have also found on one S/E car that there was also a stainless steel strip that actually ran accross the same location to hold the vinyl edge down and then that piece had the actual moulding installed over it. Hope that helps.
