X3, I'm going to go with a 26X6 MT radial though. I need the extra roll out to help with red lights.

I ran the Hoosier 26" front runners on my Dart, because they had the narrowest sidewall to keep the tire off the fender, and I bought wheels that had a better offset. I believe the Wilwood brakes were the problem, they put the wheel very close to the fender lip.

thanks for the info guys. i looked and i was wrong on the name of the tire that is on my dart right now. it is the M/T sportsman pro in a 26x7.5x15 which summit says is for cars 3000 pounds and below. looks like i need these instead. Quote:

but when i drove sportsman pro on the street with the small block i thought the car drove like crap. the tires would fallow every little cut etc in the road. i can just see how they will handle with the big block in the car. now on the track they drove great. i mean you can drive the car with one hand at 125 mph in the 1/4 if you want.I really want to thank every one for all there great input. i am just going to get the 165 tires for the dart because i plan on driving it on the street next year and will get the M/T for the 73 duster i am going to build.

The 3000# rating on the sportsman pro tires is BS. I've run the 28" tall sportsman pros on my extremely nose heavy 9 sec 3800# cuda for years and never had any issues. The 28" tall version is not available in the 8 ply for heavy cars...only the 26" is. They do drive like crap on the highway though. The car had a much better feel when I ran the 165R15 tires up front, but they're too short for my taste.

I ran the Mts on the 65.They were total crap.Even at the strip it felt bad.Went to the 165 80s and night and day difference.Even at 120 at the track I can let go of the wheel and its straight.I run them on the street all the time with no problems.I run MT rears that are bias.Car still handles great with radials on the front.Rocky

Spend the extra 15 bucks a tire on some M/T sportsman tires for the front
I wouldn't run those VW tires if someone gave them to me
I've seen a couple of them blow at the top end
I run a raidal in the rear and the sportsmans in the front No problem
I don't think that there are any cheap tires, especially imported ones, since Pres. B.H.O. put the import taxes on them When it comes to tires on any of my vechicles I look at the speed rating and the weight carrying ratings before buying The 165SR15 have a weight rating of 1350 lbs each usually and a lot of the bias ply two ply front tires aren't rated for that much weight I have four sets of drag race front tires, one set of Phoenix, two sets of MT ET Fronts, which are four plys , and one set of Moroso front runners. I thought that the M/T ET fronts where two plys also, there not My new racecar will have the 8 ply funny car front tires on it, there rated for speed faster than that car should run Safety first

Tread pattern looks slightly different, they are 28x7.50x15. I dont run the car on the road now, so cant comment there but they are fine at the track. Mick
