I have a '70 floor shift column but the shaft is collapased and the steering wheel threads are shot. I have a '70 column shift column and I was going to swap the guts over. Before I start, would it be easier to just convert the "on the column" unit to a floor shift or are the outter housings completly diffrent?

Thanks!

Don't know about 1970, but the 73/74 columns I worked on, the floor shift bits fit on my "column shift" column.
