Can he go say 1 or 2 rounds and seal the deal up, or is he gonna need to go all the way to the wire? Really hope he can pull it out, we need another mopar champ!!!

He's only 82 points ahead. Basically 5 rounds without bonus. If line goes out early in either of the last two, he' likely done. If you sweep everything, you get 130 points for a weekend. Get a record and it's 150 points. There are points for each round of qualifying (3,2,1), and for your ladder position from 8 to 1. ------------------------------------------------- NHRA NATIONAL EVENTS Winner 100 Runner-up 80 Third-round loser 60 Second-round loser 40 First-round loser 20 Additional points are awarded at national events as follows: 10 points to all contestants - one qualifying run required. 20 points for establishing an official e.t. record. Performance bonus points are awarded for each qualifying session as follows: Low e.t. of each session 3 Second-quickest 2 Third-quickest 1 Performance bonus points WILL NOT be awarded for any session unable to be completed. Thanks for the info. yeah it gets interesting now, line is 82 points out, but if he makes up that 2 points in qualifying, he just went from 5 rounds out to 4. he basically made up 20 points if you think of it like that. Lines 5 rounds out, with 8 rounds left. I think that all AJ has to do is keep it at 5 going into Pomona, so matching Line round for round in vegas will pretty much force line to need to win and set a record to seal the deal, regardless of what AJ does in Pomona.

Allen Johnson�s first run of the session on Wednesday was 6.686 at 206.61 mph. His first run on Thursday was 6.637/208.36, which is two-hundredths faster than the No. 1 Qualifier at the LVMS spring event. Look out next weekend!
