I bought a A & A Progressive linkage for the inline dual quad set up on my 426 HEMI abd it would seem im missing something.
The link rod that goes between the 2 carbs looks as though it is suppose to go on the large hole at the top of the linkage arm.

The kit came with no instructions and this will not work on my carbs.
Thery are the original type AFB's.
Anyone have a pic of this kind of set up? It would not have to be a hemi if it was the same type of linkage.
if I tighten the blots the linkage will not operate.

The problem is not the linkage, the problem(s) are the throttle arms. That is reproduction (stock) Hemi progressive linkage, factory Hemi carbs have unique throttle arms that the linkage you bought works perfectly with. Reproduction Hemi throttle arms are available (but expensive) and should be welded to the shafts.

I have the same setup on my Charger's CH28 but mine is locked out, I don't like progressive linkage!

I have the same thing. Maninci( I know not spelled right) racing has the extra side thing that goes on the front carbs side linkage to make it work.

ScottSmith, Special linkage arms for those carbs only? Im not arguing but that makes no sense, why would there be special arms on the afb carbs? I see no clearance or alignment issues using these type carb arms. Perhaps you have a picture? Please explain why there would be a difference anyways.
Also I will call Mancini's and see about an adapter.
Thanks for the useful tip 71 RR- J68!

i have no experience with multi carb setups but i do know that speedway motors also sells linkages, this might be worth looking into.

Notice in the pic above that the front carb linkage attach point is much closer to the throttle shaft...if the linkage attaches to the same point on both carbs the secondary carb won't fully open at WOT.

John, Thanks for pointing that out!!
I made a few adapters and got the linkage mounted last night but was having that exact issue. All I will do is move the forward carb connection point to the place were the normal throttle cable goes and all should work as planned.
Thats what im talkin about!!

I took Johns advice and it works great!!!
62maxwagon, I like the air cleaners Are those the early hemi ones? where can I get a set?

I really appreciative of good advice!!
TJ at Mancinis built the 727 for the car and it is a full manual valve body so I bought the Manual trans linkage kit!
This is the wife's car.

All early air cleaners have smaller base plate openings for the smaller AFB air horn diameters of vintage Hemi carb lids. All 66-71 Street Hemi engines had single piece air cleaners with either round or oval base plate with the same size carb openings and distance between them, your modern carbs are larger diamter and will not fit them unless you make or buy a custom base with larger openings.

The only carburetors sold new these days (modern) have the larger diameter lids. The last of the small diameter AFBS were made in the early 1970's for various single and dual 4 applications including Hemi's. I'm not promoting one (old) over the other (new) I'm only informing you of what parts work together (or not).

Those air cleaners are from a 62 300H.As Scott pointed out the early inline dual quads for both B engine and Hemi had the small air horn opening and won't work with your carbs. The only way is with an adaptor and if you can find a set be prepared to lay out a healthy chunk of cash, they don't come cheap.
