I'm planning to drop my steering column to get at some gauges and noticed this ground wire (I think?) under my steering column. Anyone know what this is there for? (1970 Coronet) Thanks much.

Column ground. Grounds the column for key light, horn, etc.

I have noticed these on B and A body cars but never on an E body car. Wonder why that is???????

Could be a better ground path on the E body steering column design.

I don't have one on my A body and it all works ok,
but it's not all original so some of the new pieces may be closing the ground loop.
