Edit: The dart has drums all around, not discs up front like I had thought.

So, what conversions for A bodies have all of you used? Are there any bolt on kits that use the drum spindles, or is it pretty standard to have to convert to '73-up parts?

I was thinking of going with the F/M/J setup, since those parts are relatively easy to find, but want to know what other options are out there.

Your research is correct if you want to use the Viper 11.75 kit. If you want to run a 13 inch Viper kit then you need '73+ disc knuckles.

I covered all of the available brake kits in my B-body book complete with pictures and vendor contact info. I'd recommend starting there if you're looking for information.

Does the b-body book talk about a-body parts?

Many parts are the same between A, B, E, FMJ body cars.

Once you put the big ball joint upper control arm in an A body, things are interchangeable.

Part of what I'm worried about is that I'm going to be using the Hotchkis uca's and I want to make sure what I get for the car will work with that setup.

That's an issue. I don't know if anyone has put aftermarket calipers and disks on a car with Hotchkis Upper Control Arms.

I could not run rear mounted pin type calipers with 11.75 disk with the Hotchkis Upper Control Arms. I just moved the Calipers to the front which is fine with 73-76 Sway Bars or 67-72 Hotchkis sway bars (end links moved inward).

All bets are off when you start mixing and matching parts from different aftermarket vendors. That is rule number one when building a hot rod.

I have made the big bolt conversion on plenty of 4 wheel drum A body cars. I like to switch over to the 73 and later steering linkage as well. These setups have the studs for the idler and pitman arms pointing down, allowing easier oil pan removal.
Currently I am working on a 72 Duster owned by my brother in law. It has a 74 V8 k-member with reinforcements in the steering box mount, the strut rod holes and the lower control arm pivot shaft holes. It has FMJ knuckles with rear hung 2.75 piston calipers. We're using my C H E A P 1 1/4" front GM sway bar modified to fit.
This was a slant six, drum brake car. The difference should be impressive.

You raise a good point, if you also need to convert to v8 might as well swap all front suspension and brakes to 73\76 set up. You can always swap ucas at a lkater date.
