Removed the outlet fittings on my mechanical pump and it is obviously siphoning gas from the tank, is this normal? Is there any data out there that says how much gas in ounces should be produced say in 15 seconds during cranking? The pump is a Carter rated at 120 gph.

cranking for about 15 seconds, you should get 10-16 ounces of fuel out of a good pump. roughly 1/3-1/2 quart.
