OK, how does this thing work? One vacuum line goes into it from the carb...the other line goes to the canister on the air cleaner snorkel for the heat tube door.

Does it block vacuum when it gets hot so the air door in the snorkel closes? When these go bad I assume they let vacuum pass all the time?

Is there an inlet and an outlet side or can I hook up the hoses to either nipple?

When cold it lets vacuum through closing off the snorkel pulling air from the heat stove on the exhaust manifold. I am pretty sure you can hook up either way.

So right now at room temp it is letting vacuum pass through. If it is bad, it will try holding the door open all the time correct?

I am not sure at what temp it closes, but I would think at room temp it would be closed. I will look tomorrow I might have an NOS one and I will test it.
