Can any one tell me what the difference between the e body space saver spares? Some have an extra, small 6th hole in the rim that as I under stand are correct for 70-71. Is that correct? Then there are others with just the 5 lug holes for Mopar e bodies, what are they correct for? Can they be at all correct for a 70-71? Thanks!

The last picture posted shows a K2 with a 9 under it. That is the year date code for the rim. 9 is for 1969. All the REAL space saver rims have that stamping with either a 9(1969),0(1970), or 1(1971). The K is for Kelsey Hayes, the OEM of the rims. All rims are 14". Kelsey Hayes also made 15" rims that also have the sixth hole, they were for C Body cars, they are not for spacer savers. Sometime in Jan or Feb. of 1971 the rims were changed to five hole, they were still made by Kelsey Hayes. There are date codes stamped on either side of the valve stem hole on these rims as well. The number(s) to the left of the hole are for the month code. The number(s) to the right of the hole are for the day code. If you are looking for a space saver to mate up to your car you need to find a rim dated sometime previous to the SPD of your car. Troy, can you post some pics. showing the date code of your rim? I can post some tonight if you want. Early space saver tires were 7.75x14 B.F. Goodrich, they were changed to F78x14 somtime in September of 1969. They were used on cars with both 14" or 15" equipped cars in 1970. At the end of the 1970 production year and into 1971 they also used 7.35x14 tires along with E78x14 tires. These were for cars equipped with 14" rims and tires. The rims were still the same Kelsey Hayes ones in all cases. NONE of these rims ever had a seven digit part number stamped above the valve stem hole. Did I miss anything?

That pretty much sums it up Dwight.
Also, on the right side of the valve stem is 5.5 as seen in this picture denoting 5.5 rim.
E-body spacesavers also had the white cap as shown. (Looks taller than it actually is from that angle).

Snoopy: I have several five hole K.H. 14" rims which are dated into the 1972 production year(Aug and Nov. of 1971). Do you know what they would have been used on? The space saver pictures you just posted with the yellow warning label, what did that tire come out of? I have never seen a rim with the yellow label and the different valve stem. Do you have any history on this tire? Thanks for the pics.!

I was told that when Chrysler changed to the larger red air bottle they found out that it was possible to over inflate the space saver tires. So they came out with a valve stem that was equipped with a built in pressure relief valve and added the second warning label.
I don't know which car it came out of, I can't find my notes relating to it.

Here is another picture of a different 6 Hole with warning label and safety valve. The white label is missing, but you can see where it was placed.

Were the space savers an option in 72?

Does anyone have a Technical Service Bulletin that refers to the valve stem change?
This may have been a retrofit that the dealer performed, rather than factory installed.

FORDS AND 69-70 AMCS HAD THE SPECIAL VALVE FROM FACTORY.

That may be true, but it doesn't mean that Chrysler didn't have its dealers install the valve and decal when they serviced one of these spares.
Have you seen any Fords or AMC's that used the small inflator bottle like the original E-Body bottle?
The reason I question it being an original, delivered on a new car, part concerns the date codes on the wheels and the rarity of this configuration.
