I just had the 727 rebuilt in my dart and it has alto clutches, koleen steels, and kevlar bands, with a griner g20b valve body. The problem is that the trans brake will not hold the car past about 2500rpms. i can hear the the brake engage and i have all gears.ANY IDEAS WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, ITS DRIVIN ME NUTS!!!

Reverse band or reverse servo...would be my guess.

Reverse band would be my guess as well. Is this a fresh build or did it just start doing it. My car starts to creep at about 5500 but I usually leave at 3000-4000. May just be a band adjustment.

My Griner is very sensitive to shifter cable adjustment. It doesn't have to be very far off and the brake will not hold.

heres the other thing, i bypassed the trans cooler to check and see if it was plugged and the car held about 1000 more rpms than befor. At first it only held t0 1500 than it held to 2500 so it may be the line pressure

The guys that did my tranny have been doin then for years they even build them for 2000H.P.turbo cars, and several 727s. i just got off the phone withen now and they said to bring the whole car to them, but i still would like all your opinions.

If bypassing the cooler helped? I would check that line pressure.

Depending on the horsepower of the car, the line pressure should be between 140-145psi if the car is around 800-1000hp.

Even if there is some other factor in play, it's a good idea to verify you have all the pressure you need for engagement - but not more.

thanks to all the replys to the post im takin it back to the shop on tuesday with it in the car and i will give them the pressure specs and all the other info u all have gave me. one other piece of info for you all is the trans brace was holding befor the rebuild. the reason for the rebuild was that the drive pac of clutches was not holding under power and the trans got very hot. If this gives anyone anyother ideas let me know. like i said when the car pulled drive it acted like it was in neutral until i let out of it then it would hold until the power band kicked in. Hopefullt this will give ya all a little more info.
