Guys,
I know Paul Wong is a Mopar Guy but running some kind of Chevy Combo. Anybody know what it is? Congrats on your #1 Paul. Wrong brand but still deserving of some cudos.

After Indy there will be a re-factor or a good bit of weight added for sure... This guy is very good at finding a class with a lot of wiggle room. poppaj

He is #1 with a mid-80's full size short bed Chevy C10 pickup truck with a 350 engine. It went into the 13.30's? but was dialed in at 13.75 for eliminations.

It is something like a 86 Chevy truck 350/185?hp in U/SA with added weight. Just a combo that was hiding in the NHRA guide they built for indy. I was reading about it on classracer.com

but didn't he go out in the first round?....lotta effort, just to lose first round in a bracket race 2/3 the way across the country. and being 1.50 under did not scare anyone else racing in that eliminator. i think he did have another guy in his class. At least he picked up a trophy. Maybe contingency for a class win?

Yes, there was another pickup truck running the same U/SA combo.

Rich Muehlenhart showed up for a t&t at Brainerd in May with his combo combo and ran 13.70's. He told me he had got NHRA to approve it and the truck had run 13.27 earlier. Nothing special...just overlooked.

For now it's 165 horse 350 4bbl.

Claims were made that on the 1.5 under pass he had more MPH at the 1/8th mile than he did at the 1/4.

Many on Classracer thought this combo would be good for at least 2.0 under.

Even after the AHP hangs him with 10% more HP the car will still be fast. ~17hp in U automatic is roughly 340lbs. He now has a car that can qualify #1 and win class anywhere on the planet. Both of those tasks equal money. Paul is a smart dude and although he bombed it in Indy he will take it easy in the future. Who wouldn't like to have a #1 qualifier and class winner at Indy on their resume? I sure would!
